All disputes brought before the Arbitration Committee in 2022 were resolved without the need for formal hearings, thanks in large part to excellent in-house mediation services provided by one of our most experienced committee members. This noteworthy achievement was undoubtedly also aided by our current process, which encourages members to first attempt to resolve disputes directly before resorting to arbitration or mediation.
Professional Standards also plays an integral role in the Board’s advocacy efforts, providing critical guidance and support to FVREB’s Stakeholder and Government Relations Committee (SGRC). In fall 2022, we facilitated a strategic planning session to assist the Committee in developing a strategic platform and mission and establishing priority initiatives to address on behalf of the Board. The final plan received Board approval and Professional Standards staff are working with the SGRC to put the plan into action by engaging and organizing events and activities with their staffing counterparts at other real estate boards, at the BCREA, and CREA.
Professional Standards is the “keeper” of our profession’s good standing on behalf of members in the eyes of the pubic and of regulatory authorities. Consequently, our commitment to providing timely, accurate information and guidance; to providing policy research and advice; and to addressing matters of personal information and privacy remain our top priorities.
