When members think about communications at FVREB, the first things that likely come to mind are the communiques and messages they receive every day via our numerous channels—Touchbase, eMemo, NewsReal, Facebook, Instagram, FVREB Connect, to name just a few—all aimed at delivering information vital to supporting their professional needs.

And while this is certainly true, it’s only half the story. Ideally, communications is as much about the listening as it is about the messaging, a two-way interaction where true engagement is possible. For the FVREB Comms team this aspiration imbues every communication we issue. In this way, you might say Comms is in the relationship business—with our staff colleagues and departments, with our partner Boards and Associations, with the public at large, and most importantly, with our members.

Many of the programs and activities we undertook in 2022, were fueled by this guiding principle and nowhere is it more apparent than in our reenergized social media strategy. Increased posting frequency, embracing popular platforms, and using more video gained immediate traction, helping us reach new levels of engagement. Our Centennial activities garnered huge interest from members and public alike with positive positioning for the profession, and our work to shape FVREB Connect marked a new era in digital communications for the Board.

From the Medallion Gala to government relations to member meetings, Comms has a hand in virtually every member-facing outreach—and necessarily so, because our top priority is to bring members’ perspective and interests to all Board communications. We’re eager to build on our programs over the coming year with exciting, fresh initiatives to create even greater engagement and dialogue with members. And if the thoughtful, encouraging feedback we’ve received is any indication, members are just as eager to have them. It's especially rewarding to serve such a motivated and supportive membership—let’s keep the dialogue growing!
